The Rose Bedford Reviews

I was a frequent visitor to the Rose because my friends liked it. On Saturday evening service at the bar was very slow, and staff openly admitted to me that they were serving friends first rather than the order of those waiting. As I was about to be served a customer started shouting at me and was invading my personal space. I held up my hands to keep him away, and a manager said I was being aggressive and had me removed. Again staff openly admitted that the reason nothing was being done was because they were friends with the other customer. I have never been to an establishment before where I have been made to feel so unsafe by a customer. I will never again go to a place where managers support that kind of behaviour because they are friends with abusive customers.

Always a great atmosphere- as far as High street Pubs go, this is one of the Better ones I have been into. A bit rough around the edges but more than makes up for it with friendly staff and lots of Character.

On May 16, 2012 I visited The Rose. I found it to be very pleasant, clean and friendly with good food and beer. I visited this pub because my Father's good friend Limey Roundhill told me it was where he drank his beer after checking into the Swan Hotel and Dancing with his English Girlfriend at the Corn Exchange Building. That was in 1944 when he was stationed with my Father at Kimbolton with the 379th BG. He told me he drank beer with the first enlisted Medal of Honor winner in the ETO who was usually thrown out before the evening was over. His name was Snuffy Smith and my research tells me he was a rather useless sort of fellow who, by pure accident, won the medal. You can find his story on the internet. I enjoyed my visit and the historical significance to me. I am an Englishman who was born in Stoke while my Father was a POW. Mum and I came to the US in April of 1946. I found The Rose to be a very nice place.

The best pub/ bar in Bedfordshire. The food is fantastic (especially for the price), the music at weekends is always perfect, the garden is huge and always clean, the sport coverage is great for atmosphere ( plus there are screens everywhere), the service is friendly and they now have good drinks offers. If you are in Bedford, then you really should visit!

Main bar is good but dont ever book a party there as you dont get all the food and what you do get is very poor,we didnt even get what was on the buffet set meal and when we questioned it was told that it must of been eaten and when questioned further about the food that they didnt have it so they put in something else( lucky nobody had food allergies)and to top it off a private party which we booked ended up people just walking in and helping themselves...... And what did they offer for apoligies was 1 bottle of cheap wine!!!!!!well done the rose and also tried to say we didnt pay a deposit ........will never recommend going there for a party again
