Used Brentfordt A1 taxis Where driver collected my
party at Midnight as arranged. After 20 odd
minutes on what should have been a 15minutes
max journey (less on Google maps) we
discovered he was going wrong way. He then did
a U turn and when he managed to get us back to
our hotel overcharged us by £10.00 on the agreed
booking price and became aggressive when queried
When I called today to speak to the owner I was
put through to an extremely rude woman who told
me I was wrong and I had booked the incorrect
destination?? And he hadn't gone the wrong way!
When I tried to speak again she raised her voice
angrily over mine determined not to listen before
putting the phone down on me Worst Customer ever

Yesterday the 28/04/22 I called A1 Bedford to book a taxi for the next day the 29/04/22 at 7.45. I made my reservation in advance to be sure that the taxi would come on time.
at 7:40 I called the company because they usually send you an SMS confirming that the taxi is on the way but this morning I didn't receive anything and when I called A1 a very rude girl answered the phone saying that the taxi coming late, so I have to wait. Obviously if I call a day before is to make Shure the taxi arrive on time,( I told the woman on the phone), and she very rudely told me that she was going to cancel the taxi because it is not her problem. Hopefully the taxi arrived at the same time she seed she is going to cancel the taxi. The taxi came 12 min late with the consequence that I went late to work. The taxi driver told me that the company give him the job 5 min before, so that's mean the company didn't book the day before. That girl on the phone shouldn't be working to talk to people on the phone for reservations!!!!!! she's not nice, and of course whoever talks to her I'm sure they wouldn't call this company again, like me, I won't call again.

Booked a taxi and made them aware that a bigger car was needed due to my friend being on the bigger side. They sent a normal car so tried to sit in the front and the driver refused and I said to him that I had told them I needed a bigger vechile. He said it was not his problem that my friend was "FAT". I felt this was bang out of order for a driver to speak about someone like that. Will never be using this firm again

AVOID AVOID AVOID! Please use any other taxi company. We ordered their services there and back to a village just outside of Bedford. On both journeys, we had passengers feeling travel sick and feeling like they had been knocked around in the taxi. Unfortunately the drivers care more about completing the job quickly as opposed to their passengers safety and the laws of the road. Despite the return journey not being after midnight, they tried to charge us way more and locked us in the car when we questioned why it was so much more money. The driver also tried to illegally charge us more money for using a debit card. He eventually did drop this when I said it was against the law but I wonder how many other people he has done this to. When we called the head office, their response showed that they did not care at all and they commented on how we were wasting the driver's time and he needed to get on with other jobs. They treat and speak to their customers utterly rubbishly. Please please please, use any other taxi company!

Got picked up by Abdul from A1 at Gatwick for horrendous weather hit journey to Bedford. Took six hours through desperate conditions. Driver was heroic and amazing. His driving was outstanding, kept his cool made sure we were as safe as could be and never once complained - not even a tut. He was at the end of his night shift and must have been shattered. Not much he could do stuck on m25 in snow. Great effort - this is why I only used A1.

Terrible experience at 4.00am trying to get to the airport, poor attitude from the first driver who basically couldn't be bothered to drive to the airport and then decided he couldn't get luggage in, despite booking an estate car days before. Then left hanging around waiting for another car, minibus arrived and changed us £9 extra. Do not use!!

Hopeless. They can never find our house but delivery companies never seem to have a problem. Last time they failed to turn up at all and drove off after logging a no show. Contacted the office several times each time being promised the driver was nearly there. The person was rude and tried to blame me for not giving them the correct details. A replacement driver arrived having had no issues finding us 45 mins later. Avoid at all costs.

So we get in out ordered taxi and the driver pulls off then demands payment en route! Gets increasingly aggressive and stops on a roundabout until we paid. Dangerous. Do not use.

Rude, theives and disrespectful!!! We used this company for both ways!! First way £17 no problem. I then called them on my return and double checked it was £17. Man on the phone asked what our home address on the phone...dodgy! He also said £19 instead of £17!He then put phone down on me!! Then, 20 mins later got a text saying that the car had arrived. No comformation text like I should have got!!! The driver then demanded money from my sister and I at the started of the journey. He didn't give in until we said we had it at home for the 3rd time! At the end of the journey he demanded one of us to stay in the car whilst one of us goes to get the money. I went in to get the money and he then started to drive off much further then need be! Worst taxi ever and from this journey never using them again!! £17 for a 20 min journey not worth it!!!!!!

Don't even deserve the one star. Called in advance after a 20 minutes of waiting I get a message taxi outside. I go out turns out he went to a completely different location to where I was at. Called head office to order a different taxi lady on the phone starts screaming at me that it's my fault! Never thought a company would ever treat a paying customer like that definitely the last time to ever call them.

Phoned for a cab told it would be 20mins still no show after 40mins told he was just down the road but traffic was a problem,in the end I drove into town didn,t see .any sign of him on my way,no traffic problem what so ever.Got into town parked car got text telling me he was waiting outside a good hour later.Why take bookings you can,t handle.This my second bad experience with this company the fist time they turned up late and the driver tried to break the land speed record,56 miles per hour in a 30 zone,phoned up but not interested what so ever,money before customer safety

Used a1 for over 20 years until this evening; tried to order a taxi for friends from our house in Turvey to Bedford, they hung up on us twice and blatantly just couldn't be bothered to come to us. We called to see where the taxi was (as they hadn't let us they weren't coming) and then informed us that they weren't coming. Rude rude rude. Called anglia cars they were lovely and are on their way.

Absolutely gutted that today I had to report on of A1's drivers to the police for what can only be described as theft after taking my phone as security when I was taken to my work to pick up my wallet. The driver is now denying all knowledge of this. I am livid and had no choice but report this to the police. Even more annoying is that I gave the driver a £5 for being so helpful.
I have used A1 for a number of years and would expect honesty from their drivers when I reported this to the Mill Street office I was basically called a liar.
This will be resolved legally now.

Great taxi service. We came to Bedford for the weekend. We stayed at the swan hotel, they booked our first cab Saturday night. The driver gave us a card for our return journey. Sunday morning we booked a cab to take us back to our home town. The driver was very friendly , we had a pleasant journey home. Great value. Prompt service,nice drivers.

Very disappointed . Used them for airport pick up and they were very late. More importantly they told us the driver was near when we called when he hadn't turned up,( when he wasn't near at all), they didn't phone us back when the taxi had not arrived, it took numerous calls before we heard from the driver and when I phoned to complain to speak to the owner of the company, I never received a call back as promised. They are not prompt or reliable and their customer service is non exsistent.

Taxis are always on time and they will let you know if there is going to be a delay. Staff in the Office are very efficient and friendly.
I have a disability and the drivers are extremely helpful not minding if I take a while to get to the car. I have been using this company for years and would recommend them to all my family and friends.

DO NOT USE - THIEVES - DO NOT USE I took a taxi with these people and paid the driver in cash at the end of the journey as I usually would. They had taken my card details as a guarantee against a no show so later that evening I called them to ensure my card would not be charged and I was assured it wouldn't be. However 2 days later there was a charge on my card, I called them to try and get it reimbursed and the driver denied all knowledge of me having paid cash and the people in the office 'couldn't remember' me calling them again later that night to check my card hadn't be charged. They refused to reimburse my card so I paid double for my fare.The people in the office were incredibly rude and unhelpful and their drivers are totally untrustworthy, I would not touch them with again with a barge pole.
